01Story

Some Places Feel
Familiar Before
You Know Why.

When the team behind Donsak first arrived at Ellicott Mill, they saw the Patapsco moving beside the old mill, a bridge spanning the water, and people gathering in a town shaped by both.

Something about it felt like home.

In Thailand, life has always gathered along the river. Markets open. Meals are shared. Neighbors meet. Generations come together.

Here, thousands of miles away, they recognized the same spirit.

That feeling inspired River House. A modern Thai kitchen and bar created to bring the warmth of their hospitality into a setting with a story of its own.

As Ellicott Mill begins its next chapter through thoughtful adaptive reuse, River House is honored to become part of its story and help create new memories along the river.

03Design

Preserve the Mill.
Open It to the River.

River House treats Ellicott Mill as the starting point, not a backdrop.

Three moves define the experience: preserve the mill’s original structure, open dining toward the Patapsco, and introduce Thai warmth through natural materials, soft light, and crafted detail.

06Technology

Hospitality First.
Systems Behind It.

Technology should make hospitality feel more personal, not more complicated.

One operating view supports three outcomes: more consistent service, better guest recognition, and faster decisions across reservations, loyalty, events, staffing, marketing, and analytics.

Technology underneath.
Hospitality up front.
One connected operating system

Three Audiences.
One Destination.

River House sits at the intersection of three demand pools: Ellicott Mill residents, five-mile households, and visitors already drawn to Old Ellicott City.

Together, they create a broader and more balanced customer base than a conventional neighborhood restaurant.

01
On-Site Residents A restaurant steps from home supports recurring dinner, drinks, celebrations, and everyday visits.
02
Local Households The five-mile market provides depth for regular dining and repeat occasions throughout the week.
03
Destination Guests Old Ellicott City’s historic character and regional visibility extend River House beyond the neighborhood.
